Bengaluru Yellow Line 7th Train to Improve Frequency
Bengaluru’s Yellow Line has got its seventh driverless train. It was made by Titagarh Rail Systems and sent from Kolkata on December 10. The train is now at the Hebbagodi depot, where Yellow Line trains are kept and maintained.
This train comes just a few days after the sixth train arrived. The sixth train is now being checked for safety. Right now, five trains are running for passengers.
Long Waiting Times on the Yellow Line
The Yellow Line runs 19.15 km from RV Road to Bommasandra. It connects homes, workplaces, and Electronic City, one of Bengaluru’s biggest IT and industrial areas.
Many commuters still face long waits. Right now, trains come every 15–20 minutes, especially in busy hours. If you miss a train, you might wait another 15 minutes. This can make you late for work or your bus.
Trains Will Come Every 8–10 Minutes
With the sixth and seventh trains, BMRCL plans to reduce waiting times to 8–10 minutes.
- The sixth train may start by the last week of December.
- The seventh train should start in January, after safety checks.
Shorter gaps will mean less crowding and faster journeys. But to keep trains every 8 minutes during busy hours, more trains are needed. This may take until early 2026 to stabilise.
Safety Checks Before Passengers Ride
Before a train can carry passengers, it must pass tests:
- Depot tests – check doors, brakes, lights, and electronics
- Track tests – check braking, traction, and signalling
- Complete trial runs and get safety approvals
Only after this can the train start passenger service.
